Abstract

In the present investigation methyl 5 –amino 2- hydroxy benzoate and some novel metal complexes of Ca (II) and Mg (II) with methyl 5 –amino 2- hydroxy benzoate derivative have been synthesized.  All metal complexes and ligand are characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurement, 1H-NMR, IR spectra, and thermo gravimetric analysis. These complexes were used as catalyst for some standard organic reaction. The antimicrobial activity of the ligand and their metal complexes were screened against various bacteria.
